Martin’s Happy Days is a one day music festival held in Halifax, in loving memory of a very talented man, Martin McGinley.
On March 9, 2011 we lost a close, and very, dear friend.
For those who had the great pleasure to call Martin a friend, he provided us with endless hours of happiness, love, laughter and music. Whether it was with his brother Mick, and Digger, as the legendary McGinley’s, as a founder member of The Donkees or, on his own with a guitar, Martin had a talent that was unique, endearing, and surpassed only by his modesty.
Martin took such pleasure from music and the company of his many, many friends. His encouragement and appreciation of others music was a mark of his generosity. Quick to praise and even quicker to smile and always with a twinkle in his eye.
In a desire to mark Marty’s memory in the spirit of his life, his brother Mick has enlisted the willing help of his and Marty’s many friends. Mick is now organising the fourth music festival which will be at The Moorlands and will take place some time in 2016. Many of the musicians who enjoyed playing alongside Martin are playing to raise money for a cause that was very close to his heart, The Basement Recovery Project in Halifax.
Support for the first three events was overwhelming, so much so that our festival programme was fully booked and tickets for the event were completely sold out before they were even off the printing press and fundraising monies still keep rolling in. We are not producing a printed programme for our next event but we are looking for sponsorship which will be displayed at the event and on our website. If you are interested in supporting the event, sponsoring a band etc, please contact us via our Facebook Page.
You can always support the event by making a donation direct to The Basement Recovery Project.
Please join our Facebook Page to keep up to date with our plans for 2016 and beyond.
Thanks for your support.
